Keeping Heidelberg clean
Together we can do it
In the year 2017, Heidelberg City Administration spent some 5.9 million euros on keeping Heidelberg looking its best, pursuing a multi-pronged approach to achieve this. But without the public’s involvement, these efforts would be in vain.
Everyone has their part to play
There are plenty of ways in which members of the public can help keep litter and grime at bay. For example, each year around 2,500 people get their hands dirty in the Heidelberg ‘spring clean.’
It is also extremely easy to report grimy corners, broken glass, and fly tipping, either by telephone, or by using the ‘Mein Heidelberg’ (My Heidelberg) app.
- ‘Saubere Stadt’ (Clean City) hotline: +49 6221 58-29999 (8 am to 1 pm Monday to Friday)
- The ‘Mein Heidelberg’ app can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store or Google Play, and works on any iPhone or Android smartphone. For more information please visit: https://www.heidelberg.de/Digitale-Stadt/startseite/projekte/heidelberg+app.html
In addition, regular ‘cleanliness patrols’ give residents an opportunity to alert the responsible city employees to problem areas in their neighborhood.
