Involving people
Developing our city together
Involvement in important decisions. The City of Heidelberg is determined to increase public consultation over and above what is required by law. It wants to involve the city’s inhabitants in issues such as building conversion and the "Master Plan Im Neuenheimer Feld".
Statutory consultation guidelines. Heidelberg‘s inhabitants are involved in municipal planning processes at an early stage and are an important source of ideas for the administrative departments and city council. To make sure that the process functions properly, public consultation guidelines were developed and unanimously approved by the city council in 2012.
Transparent decision-making. A planning list allows the people of Heidelberg to stay ahead of current and future projects. In addition to reflecting the current state of planning, the list also provides information about the costs and contacts for each project, thus facilitating dialog between the administration and the public and ensuring that the city’s inhabitants are involved at an early stage.
Contact person: A municipal coordination office is responsible for dealing with public consultation matters. Fabian Eisenbarth and his team are the contact persons for the public and for administrative departments in case of civic participation and have the role of encouraging an exchange of information.“
