Guides
accompanying you on the path to help
What should you do when domestic violence occurs? The city of Heidelberg has a strong support system in place for women* who are affected by domestic violence. It provides them with advice, support and on-going help. But for many women*, simply gaining access to the system or maintaining contact can be impossible. Unfortunately, the path to help is often fraught with obstacles. Shame, guilt, financial worries, or feelings of helplessness as a result of traumatic experiences often trap women* in seemingly inescapable situations.
In order to speed up and facilitate women’s* access to support systems, from 6 July 2020 two guides – a psychologist and a youth trauma specialist – will be provided to accompany them on their journey. These guides can be contacted via the project contact points: the intervention agency for women, the walk-in clinic for victims of violence, the police, and the Clinic for General Psychiatry. The guides will personally be there every step of the way, from the first point of contact onwards. They will furthermore provide personalised advice on any subsequent steps and work to develop new perspectives.
The guide system is intended to break down any obstacles standing in the way of help.
Please contact our project contact points. They can arrange a guide for you:
