Themed hiking trail
‘Wine and Culture’
In the Rohrbach vineyards – one of the oldest wine-growing areas in the Badische Bergstraße region – walkers enjoy stunning views, diverse flora and fauna, and a varied landscape shaped by centuries of farming activity. In spring 2013 a new, specially-designed hiking trail – the ‘Wine and Culture’ trail – was created for everyone interested in discovering the distinctive natural and topographical features of the area. Along the route are helpful information boards and stimulating works of art. The route was created as part of the larger ‘Gaisberg Massif learning landscape’ project, run by the City of Heidelberg’s Landscaping and Forestry Office.
The new hiking path is the brainchild of the Heidelberg-Rohrbach fruit, gardening and winegrowing club (OGW), who implemented the project jointly with the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geo Nature Park and the City of Heidelberg, with support from numerous other local partners.
