Guided tours of Heidelberg
(Re)discover Heidelberg
The colorful city of Heidelberg is always worth a closer look – and what better way than with one of the city’s many guided tours. Tours are available for both individuals and groups. Tour guides are all qualified and expert in sharing their in-depth historical knowledge with visitors and keeping them entertained with gripping anecdotes.
Naturally, international visitors can enjoy a wide range of exciting tours in their own language. Some of the city, castle and themed tours are offered in up to 17 languages.
Visitors hungry for a little more action need not look far: The CitySafari Segway tour lets guests explore the city on a unique, two-wheeled, self-balancing, electric-powered vehicle.
Horror fans will appreciate the “Heidelberg Nightwatchman”, with his gruesome tales of the witches, executioners and bloodthirsty robbers who frequented the dark alleyways of Heidelberg in the Middle Ages. His tour – one of the many Special Tours available – takes visitors to the sites of foul deeds from the city’s past. The best way to experience the romance of Heidelberg is with an evening tour (Fridays from April to October at around 6 pm) that lets romantics soak in the unique atmosphere as the sun slowly sets on the city’s Old Town.
For visitors who would like to get to know the Rhine-Neckar region a little better, guided day trips and tours of the surrounding countryside are also available.
