Formal application for civil marriage (Anmeldung zur Trauung)

A formal application for civil marriage can only be made with the registry office of the municipality where one of the fiancés is normally resident. The marriage ceremony can take place in any registry office (Standesamt) within Germany at the wish of the bridal couple. Please contact the staff of the registry office for information about the documents you will be required to produce and always make a prior appointment for your formal application for civil marriage.

Dates of marriage ceremonies

Getting married in Heidelberg is attractive. Couples can choose from the historic marriage room at the City Hall, the "Spiegelsaal" (Hall of Mirrors) of the Prince Carl administrative building and Heidelberg Castle.

Historic marriage room and "Spiegelsaal" (Hall of Mirrors): The historic marriage room offers 12 seats and standing room for 18 persons. If more capacity is needed, couples can rent the "Spiegelsaal" (Hall of Mirrors).

In addition to the regular ceremony times (every 30 minutes on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) there are a few Saturdays and special dates.
